Monday - Lauds

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

God, come to my assistance
Lord, make haste to help me

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

Preparation - Make a firm resolution to avoid evil and to do good.

Psalm 109

The Lord said to my Lord:
Sit thou at my right hand:
Until I make thy enemies thy footstool.

The Lord will send forth the sceptre of thy power out of Sion:
rule thou in the midst of thy enemies.

With thee is the principality in the day of thy strength:
in the brightness of thy saints:
from the womb before the day star I begot thee.

The Lord hath sworn, and he will not repent:
Thou art a priest for ever
according to the order of Melchisedech

The Lord at thy right hand hath broken kings
in the day of his wrath

He shall judge among nations, he shall fill ruins:
he shall crush the heads in the land of many.

He shall drink of the torrent in the way,
therefore he shall lift up the head.

Genesis 14:14-20

Which when Abram had heard, to wit, that his brother Lot was taken,
he numbered of the servants born in his house, three hundred and eighteen well appointed:
and pursued them to Dan.

And dividing his company, he rushed upon them in the night:
and defeated them, and pursued them as far as Hoba,
which is on the left hand of Damascus

And he brought back all the substance, and Lot his brother,
with his substance, the women also and the people.

And the king of Sodom went out to meet him,
after he returned from the slaughter of Chodorlahomor,
and of the kings that were with him in the vale of Save,
which is the king's vale.

But Melchisedech the king of Salem,
bringing forth bread and wine,
for he was the priest of the most high God,

blessed him, and said:
Blessed be Abram by the most high God,
who created Heaven and Earth.

And blessed be the most high God,
by whose protection the enemies are in thy hands.
And he gave him the tithes of all.

Gospel Canticle

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel;
because he hath visited
and wrought the redemption of his people.

And hath raised up an horn of salvation to us,
in the house of David his servant:

As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets,
who are from the beginning.

Salvation from our enemies,
and from the hands of all that hate us.

To perform mercy to our fathers,
and to remember his holy testament,

The oath, which he swore to Abraham our father,
that he would grant to us,

That being delivered from the hands of our enemies,
we may serve him without fear,

In holiness and justice before him,
all our days.

And thou, child,
shalt be called the prophet of the Highest;
for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord
to prepare his ways:

To give knowledge of salvation to his people,
unto the remission of their sins:

Through the bowels of the mercy of our God,
in which the Orient from on high hath visited us:

To enlighten them that sit in darkness,
and in the shadow of death:
to direct our feet into the way of peace.

Pater Noster

Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done
on Earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Dismissal

May the Lord bless us,
Protect us from all evil
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.
