Studying the Great Books

You have probably heard that most college students cannot pass an eighth-grade math test from a century ago. Whether strictly rue or not, this possibly apocryphal allegation points out a serious deficiency in the modern education system. We all feel it on a visceral level but not all of us are willing to voice our concerns.
